Recognition
MK Allen began screenwriting in 2017 after collaborating on a SAG-affiliated production—an experience that quickly evolved into a sustained focus on narrative craft across formats. Since then, her work has earned recognition in national and international competitions across both screen and prose.
Her television pilot Orchids won the TVWriter.com People’s Pilot Screenplay Contest. She has also won honors from Women Who Write in Film and the Content Creators of Atlanta Feature Screenplay Contest. Her scripts have been named finalist at the Big Apple Film Festival and Screenplay Competition and twice semi-finalist at the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival Screenplay Competition.
Additional recognition includes the Scriptmatix Fellowship, semi-finalist and quarter-finalist placements in the Page Turner Screenplay Competition, official selections from the Filmmatic Drama Screenplay Awards and the Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, and a second semi-finalist placement in the TVWriter.com People’s Pilot Screenplay Contest for a separate television project.
In prose, her memoir How to Care for Your Village Asshole won the 2025 Book Pipeline Unpublished Contest in the Nonfiction/Memoir category. Her debut novel, Emergency Contacts, is coming out early winter 2027.
